This is the 44th year of the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s national Telethon hosted by National Chairperson Jerry Lewis. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary, national health agency; a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering 43 different neuromuscular diseases; most of these diseases are genetic. The Local District of MDA provides services to over 600 families in the NE Ohio District which covers 14 counties in Ohio, including both Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. Much of the funding for the many programs available is obtained by having fundraisers; as well as private and corporate contributions. All of the money raised through these fundraisers stays locally to help our 600 families through clinic support, repairs of durable medical equipment, support groups, vaccinations and summer camp for children 6-17 years of age.
